I frequently get asked about my process. Here is a little documentation of a piece I have going now.

July 2010: This canvas has seen many places with a few different faces. The “GOLDEN STEEZ” as seen below hung in the hollywood district for quite a few months.

August 2011: Random Jager bottle ends up with a STEEZ Tattoo also.

August 2011: Jager STEEZ gets smashed for a new explosive canvas. Incidentally, usually I come out of these injury free. This Jager bottle got a good slice of my thumb. I was told it should have had stitches. I grabbed a beer, panicked a little bit and moved on with the work.

Aug. 2011: The broken glass gets glued to the canvas with a combination of hot glue and an excessive amount of paint. I buy the mis-tint paint at Lowes/Home Depot so I can use it with reckless abandon. Usually I paint over it so the color doesn’t matter. However, the way this looks currently I’m kind of inspired.

Burning Man Van

Sometimes Craigs List is crazy. I responded to an Ad on friday afternoon that basically said “We are heading to Burning Man and want a crazy mural on our van before we head out. We’ll be in Portland for one evening on our way down, anybody want to trade a bunch of beer to paint our van?” Of course I did!! I got the hook up from some new friends on a bunch of Ninkasi and Rogue Beer and in turn spent about 4 hours painting their van. I ran out of daylight towards the end, but got this great picture from the first side. Hopefully when they return from burning man more pictures will surface.

Tonight marks the opener of an awesome summer graffiti show in the Pearl. The 4 artist show will include graffiti on panels, canvases, stickers, prints, stencil art and more. Come check it out on the First Thursday rotation or any day during the month of August at Benjamin Benjamin Art Gallery.

Overland Agency Art

The people at Overland Agency had a pretty great first thursday opening last night. 3 artists hung work in the fourth floor of the De Soto building, after a few drinks a pretty fun jam session broke out. I’m amazed by a drummer who can sing a Tool song. Just outstanding.

Penguins

Lately I have been working towards developing a character to include with some of my graffiti work. Erik and John are the first to own some of the penguins, I love the way this little scene turned out and I think we’ll be continuing on with more penguins in the garage.

Vita Cafe – Art show on Alberta

I just recently hung a diverse show with Pop, Abstract and Graffiti work at Vita Cafe on Alberta. Pretty nice little cafe that serves mostly vegan and vegetarian food and works hard to serve organic and local ingredients. This show will hang all month.

Alberta Art Hop Live Graffiti Paint

This post represents how busy I have been lately. This live paint exhibit took place in May, the piece was hung over on Killingsworth and 30th for the month of June and only now is it making it to the Blog. I collaborated with Art Not Crime‘s DeAngelo Raines – proud new father and coordinator of the live paint exhibition on Alberta. I painted the STEEZ lettering, and he did his trademark Ghetto Blaster. I forget the other artists names on the second piece, but I sure do like it!
